NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Digdoh Hills, Hingna Road, Nagpur has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Public Health Foundation of India, New Delhi which is the premier institution working in the area of Public Health, Epidemiology and Research.
The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a public private initiative that has collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies including Indian and international academia, state and central governments, multi & bi-lateral agencies and civil society groups. PHFI is a response to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health.
Public Health Foundation of India is the body which runs Indian Institutes of Public Health at Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bhubaneshwar, Shillong and Bengaluru and also provides consultancy services to the Government of India, State Governments and other agencies in the area of Public Health. The Foundation is governed by a fully empowered, independent, General Body that has representatives from multiple constituencies – government, Indian and international academia and scientific community, civil society and private sector.
This MOU will harness the inherent strengths of NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre in the area of community outreach and ability to provide tertiary level affordable healthcare to the needy populace in and around Nagpur and will also strengthen the research eco-system in the Institution.
This MOU was facilitated by Rajiv Yashroy, Project Director, VSPM Academy of Higher Education, Nagpur and signed by Dr. Kajal Mitra, Dean, NKPSIMS on one part and Prof. D.Prabhakaran, Vice-President, Research and Policy on behalf of PHFI.
