G.H. Raisoni chess festival inaugurated

G.H. Raisoni Chess Festival consisting of Classical, Rapid and Blitz FIDE Rating Chess Tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Shekhar Patil, Deputy Director (Sports) Nagpur at G.H.Raisoni Institute of Engineering Nagpur on June 25 by playing a move on the chess board against IM Anwesh Upadhyaya, Ex-National Rapid Champion.

Pallavi Dhatrak, District Sports Officer, Nagpur, Shreyas Raisoni, Director Raisoni Group, Ankush Raktade, Joint Secretary, MCA and Pramodraj Moree, International Arbiter were present on the occasion.

The tournament is being organised by G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation jointly with Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and is recognised by the Chess Association Nagpur, Maharashtra Chess Association, All India Chess Federation and FIDE.

Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation welcomed the guest. S.S.Soman, Working President, Chess Association Nagpur conducted the programme and proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The tournament has attracted 163 entries. The tournament is being played in 10 rounds followed by a Prize Distribution function on 30th June 2022. Photo of Inauguration Ceremony is attached.

In the first round played held after Inauguration function, there were no upsets and all the seeded players sailed through to the second round defeating their rivals.
