The students appearing for the HSC examinations of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education were confused over alleged mistakes in the question paper on Tuesday.
The HS examinations began on Tuesday and the first paper was of English. The students have alleged that they could not understand the question and have demanded full six marks to be awarded to the students.
Sheetal Peter, a Junior College English Teacher at Hislop College explained in detail the mistake that has occurred. The Live Nagpur provides Sheetal Peter’s explaination on the said question-
The English question paper was a mixed bag of very easy, easy, moderate n tricky questions.
The Poetry and Appreciation section, Q.3 had 3 incorrect questions.
A3 said to (accept any suitably correct answer) the question wasn’t asked.
A4 Figure of speech question was also confusing, explanation and answer was already given and question wasn’t posed.
A5 said ‘Composing lines’: Theme wasn’t mentioned, must have been really confusing for kids.
The questions seemed to have got misprinted from the model answer key to be given to the valuers. I humbly request the Board to give 6 marks to the students who attempted or have even failed to attempt due to mere confusion and misunderstanding.
The writing skills section had interesting topics, grammar was simple as it came in MCQ pattern, and it was easy for kids to choose the correct answer.
As usual for slow writers the paper seemed to be lengthy, the 10 minutes extra time was a boon for many. Overall paper was easy for some and moderate for others.
