In Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, family members of a tribal man carried him on a cot for approximately 14 kilometers to reach the nearest hospital, an official reported on Saturday. Mallu Majji, 67, from Bhatpar village in Bhamragadh tehsil, sustained injuries while working on his farm on Thursday.
With no proper stretcher available, Majji’s son, Pusu Majji, and others improvised by using a cot as a makeshift stretcher. They navigated a swollen stream by using a small boat, as there is no bridge in the area. The rural hospital in Bhamragadh, about 14 kilometers from Bhatpar, is only accessible by crossing this stream.
Upon reaching the hospital, Majji received initial treatment but was discharged “against medical advice” and transported back to their village on the cot, the official added.
