Prachi Parkhi from Nagpur has been appointed as the coach for the Indian acrobatic gymnastics team for two major upcoming events. The Gymnastics Federation of India has confirmed her role for the 13th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Age Group Competition and the 1st Junior World Championship, as well as the 29th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championship. These events will take place in Guimaraes, Portugal, from September 12 to 15 and September 19 to 22, respectively.
Prachi Parkhi, a former international gymnast, previously competed at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2018, where she won a bronze medal. She was also the coach for the Indian squad at the 2022 Asian Championship in Kazakhstan, leading the team to six medals.
The Indian delegation for the World Age Group Competition will depart for Guimaraes on September 9 and return on September 16. The team for the World Championship will leave on September 16 and come back on September 23. The delegation includes Pravin Shinde as coach, Inderjeet Singh as Head of Delegation, and Yogesh Pawar as Judge/Coach.
Prachi, who is also the Director of Phoenix Gymnastics Academy in Nagpur, recently completed a Level One course in acrobatic gymnastics in Hong Kong in 2023. Her appointment has been recognized and supported by various officials from the Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association and other local sports authorities.
