The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to impose restrictions on wives traveling the cricket players on foreign tours. They may be allowed to stay with the wife for a limited period. Similarly, the players will have to travel in the official bus for the players, reliable sources stated.
The BCCI is planning to make rules stricter for players following poor performance in Australia. BCCI held a meeting before the Champions Trophy tournament. Chief Coach Gautam Gambhir, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, and Captain Rohit Sharma were present. New guidelines for the players and supporting staff were discussed. A player’s wife will be able to stay with him for only 14 days during the 45-day tour. Thus the rules that were in force before 2019 are being reinforced. In case of a shorter tour, this period of staying together can be reduced to seven days.
The players to and from the playgrounds were traveling in different vehicles. Now all the players, irrespective of their status and reputation as players, will have to travel by the official bus only.
