Dr. Prashant Bokare, Vice-Chancellor, announced that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law, run by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), will get a new building. The construction cost is estimated at Rs 200 crore. The need for either renovation of the existing structure or the construction of a new building had been a long-pending demand. The new building will incorporate facilities to preserve the historical essence of the college.
The Law College will celebrate its centenary on January 28, 2025, during which the blueprint for the new college building will be unveiled. The event will be graced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, an alumnus of the college, along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, noted architect and former Chairman of the Council of Architecture Habib Khan.
The college’s alumni include former Prime Minister the late PV Narasimha Rao, former Chief Justices of India Mohammed Hidayatullah and Sharad Bobde, legal luminary Adv. Harish Salve, former Advocate General Adv. VR Manohar, Supreme Court Justices Bhushan Gavai, former Judge Vikas Sirpurkar, former ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar, Adv. Sunil Manohar, Justice Nitin Sambre, Justice Anil Kilor, and many others.
