The National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination held on May 3 and referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive probe, citing serious inputs received from law enforcement agencies regarding alleged irregularities in the examination process.
According to the NTA, the decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India after investigative findings and intelligence inputs from central agencies indicated that the integrity of the examination had been compromised, making it impossible for the current results to stand.
The agency stated that fresh dates for the re-conducted NEET (UG) 2026 examination, along with the schedule for issuing revised admit cards, will be announced soon through official channels.
NTA clarified that candidates who appeared for the May 3 examination will not be required to register again or pay any additional examination fee. Existing registration details, candidature data and examination centre preferences submitted during the May 2026 cycle will remain valid for the re-examination.
The agency further announced that the fees already paid by candidates will be refunded, and the re-examination process will be conducted entirely using NTA’s internal resources to ensure transparency and fairness.
