The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will organise special incentive distribution programmes in Nagpur and Chandrapur on June 19 under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY), a flagship initiative aimed at boosting employment generation and expanding social security coverage.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the events are being held to mark the rollout and implementation of the employment-linked scheme, which seeks to promote job creation, improve employability and strengthen social security benefits for workers.
The regional programmes will coincide with a national-level event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, which will be attended by the Prime Minister. During the programme, benefits worth nearly Rs 2,400 crore will be disbursed to eligible beneficiaries under the scheme. Similar events will also be organised at around 200 locations across major industrial and employment centres in the country to create awareness and encourage participation.
Appointment letters to be distributed
The programmes will bring together employees, employers, industry representatives and other stakeholders. As part of the initiative, employers will ceremonially hand over appointment letters to newly recruited employees, showcasing the scheme’s role in promoting formal employment and supporting first-time entrants into the organised workforce.
Events in Nagpur and Chandrapur
In Nagpur, the programme will be held at the EPFO Regional Office on KDK College Road, Nandanvan. District Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal and Collector Kumar Ashirwad are expected to attend the event along with other dignitaries.
The Chandrapur programme will take place at The Chandrapur District Central Co-operative Bank in Civil Lines. MLA Kishore Jorgewar and Mayor Sangita Khandekar are among the dignitaries expected to be present.
Scheme targets 3.5 crore jobs
PMVBRY has been launched with the objective of accelerating employment generation, promoting economic growth and strengthening social security coverage across the country. The scheme aims to facilitate the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs.
Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for incentives of up to Rs 15,000, while employers will receive incentives for generating additional employment opportunities. The initiative is expected to encourage greater participation in the formal sector and contribute to long-term economic development.
