ROSE, a beautiful flower which symbolizes love. The flower so delicate and soft, when gifted to someone, can bring a smile on anyone’s face and one can make their day. The dew drop settled on the petals of the flower at early morning is a scene for sore eyes. The fragrance of rose is what everyone wants to blanket themselves around.

If  just one single rose can make someone’s day special then imagine what effect will thousands of roses will have. One can experience it personally by visiting the rose garden at Raj Bhavan premises in the city. There are 1,771 plants full of flowers of more than 250 different species of roses waiting to soothe your eyes by their beauty. More than 5000 roses are not only blooming in the premises of Raj Bhavan but are also enhancing the beauty of the campus.

According to Ramesh Yewale, in-charge officer, Raj Bhavan, the Rose Garden is probably the biggest garden in Central India. ‘There is no traditional variety in these plants. We have grown the varieties of roses which will survive in hot scorching heats of summers too’, he added.

Where once stood a Subabhul forest , today there stands a beautiful garden full of roses to adorn, which just adds to the beauty of Raj Bhavan. The roses were brought in city from Bengaluru, Mysore and other places. Initially the plants could not survive the blaring summer heat of the city, therefore under the guidance of expert Mukund Tijare, budding and grafting of plants was done.

The Rose Garden of Raj Bhavan has won many prizes in national events. In total there are 125 plants of hybrid –T variety and 125 varieties of floribunda, miniature, climber rose etc.

Nature lovers must visit the garden, as they this the place where they can find their peace and solace in their fast and happening life, and can appreciate the natural beauty of these soft delicate flowers and enjoy their weekend amidst a soothing fragrance of roses.
