Mitsubishi Electric India pledges for a greener tomorrow in Nagpur

Nagpur–Mitsubishi Electric is consistently delivering pioneering technology & innovation to make a positive contribution towards the society. Mitsubishi Electric has recently launched its Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050. The company provides an Environmental declaration which states to protect the air, land and water with our efforts and technologies to sustain a better future for all.

Mitsubishi Electric India is commencing its CSR activity by organising a tree plantation drive in Beltarodi Road, Nagpur. Nagpur is a growing city and has recently regained its first position in Smart City Mission as “Nagpur Smart”. The city is also considered among the greenest and cleanest cities in India. Mitsubishi Electric India has taken a small initiative to support the city in maintaining its green cover.

On Tuesday, 7 employees of Mitsubishi Electric and 10 NGO volunteers planted 200 trees in semi- urban area of Besa-Beltarodi, Nagpur district of Maharashtra. A wide range of evergreen trees such as copper Pod tree, Kadam tree, Karanj tree, Cassia tower, Neem and Rain Tree were planted.

Mitsubishi Electric India is extensively working on its predefined CSR initiatives which are categorised under Skill Development, Community Development & Climate Action. These activities support United Nation’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of Quality Education, Clean Water Sanitation, Good Health & Well-Being and Climate Action. These programs in-turn relate to Government of India missions like Skill India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, National Rural Health Mission, National Mission for a Green India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Katsunori Ushiku, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. said “We should strive to protect the quality of air, water and soil around us. Tree Plantation helps in taking care of the environment and creating environmental balance. This activity is part of our mission where we identified various cities to carry out our corporate social responsibility activities to achieve SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

We wish to carry on this momentum with a hope that future generations will have a cleaner environment to breathe.”

The latest plantation drive is an extension towards the previous year’s CSR activities which was targeted towards activities in some cities. In FY 2019-20, The company will expand its CSR strategy and target various cities to achieve UN SDGs: Climate Action, Good Health & Well- Being and Clean Water Sanitation.
