Traffic department strengthened for drink and drive cases

The Traffic Department of Nagpur City has begun a drive to catch the violators who are breaking traffic rules while drinking and driving. A drive has been launched on December 27 and will remain active till January 1, 2020 to catch such people.

During the celebration on New Year’s Eve, it is often seen citizens consume alcohol and violate many rules in public, be it abusing, breaking traffic rules or even the cases of drink and drive. While being drunk and driving on road a driver is not only risking his life but even is dangerous for other vehicles people on road.According to the officials, a strict action will be taken against those who are caught being drunk and driving their vehicle. Traffic department has made few check points in main areas of the city and even continuous patrolling will be made available for the safety of citizens.

Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Commissioner of Police has released a statement requesting all the citizens to celebrate their new years eve with safety. He has also requested citizens, to avoid driving vehicle while being drunk and not to get involved in any of the illegal activities or obligate breaching of traffic rules.

On the night of December 27 itself, the traffic department saw a rise in the drink and drives cases in the city. The check points which will be made available in the city will be at MIDC, Sitabuldi, Sadar, Cotton Market, Lakadganj, Ajni, Indora, Sakkardhara, Kamptee. Around 22 check points have been made by the City Traffic Department.
