The third day of the Nagpur District Junior Athletics Championship, organised by the Nagpur District Athletics Association at various grounds, threw some exciting results here on Thursday.
In their bid to impress the selectors and clinch a berth in the district squad for the forthcoming state athletics meet, most of the youngsters gave their best and stamped their authority.
Jayant Waranbhe, Vaibhav Sherkar, Yadnyashree Burange and Bhyashree Mahalle were some of the top performers of the Day 3.
In the Under-20 boys discus throw competition, Jayant of Om Sai Sports Club hogged the limelight with a throw of 40.86 metres. Shreyash Gadhave and Aniket Khobragade secured second and third place, respectively.
Bhavesh Khandar of Mahatma Gandhi High School clocked 9 minutes, 41.58 seconds to claim the top position in the 3000m race of the U-18 boys category. Bhavesh was followed by Shreyash Chatte and Gandharv Davale.
In the Under-16 2000m race of the girls section, Bhavyashree Mahalle and Vidita Meshram, both athletes of Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal, emerged winner and runner-up. While Bhavyashree took 6 minutes, 52.40 seconds, Vidita needed 7 minutes and .88 seconds.
In the boys section, Vaibhav Sherkar of School of Scholars, Wanadongri claimed the top spot with a timing 6.42.61 seconds. Green City Sports Academy athlete Sparsh Tembhurne and Samit Tong of Track Star came second and third respectively.

U-18 girls 3000m: 1. Yadnyashree Burange (12.10.65 sec), 2. Mayuri Patel (12.20.95 sec), 3. Minakshi Goutam (12.55.37 sec).
U-16 girls 2000m: 1. Bhavyashree Malhalle (6.52.40 sec), 2. Vidita Meshram (7.00.88 sec), 3. Shreya Kirmore (7.14.43 sec).
U-16 boys 2000m: 1. Vaibhav Sherkar (6.42.61 sec), 2. Sparsh Tembhurne (6.45.11 sec), 3. Samit Tong (6.45.61 sec).
