A task force to take care of child rendered destitute, because of death of parents due to Covid 19, has been constituted.  This is step to provide protection to the children from falling prey to anti-social elements.

Although there is provision for institutions extending protection to the child under Juvenile Justice Act, special directives have been issued to helping the children who became victim of the Covid pandemic and lost both mother and father.

District Collector Ravindra Thakre convened a meeting of the task force here. Zilla Parishad CEO Yogesh Kumbhejkar, District Child Protection Officer Mushtak Pathan, Deputy Commissioner, Women and Child Development Bhagwat Tambe, District Women and Child Development Officer Sachin Jadhav, City Co-ordinator of Childline Shraddha Tillu and others attended the meeting.

Thakre stated that arrangement for counseling of these children has been made. If required these children can be accommodated in government protection homes. Toll-free phone number of Childline 1098 can be used to inform about such children.

The problems of children have increased, if their parents are hospitalized or isolated after getting corona infection. Parents of such children or the hospitals where they have been admitted, may inform the Task Force on phone number of Women and Child Development Department – 0712-256991.
