Dr. Satish Kailash Chaurasia, the resident medical officer (RMO) of KIMS Kingsway Hospital and the award winner twice for best doctor was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for stroke on April 5.
He had Kidney transplant four years back, but his graft was rejected, since then was on regular dialysis. The Team of Doctors treated him for 3 days but his condition deteriorated after surgical craniotomy and team of doctors declared him brain dead.
Wife Shalley Chaurasia was counselled to donate his organs. Herself a living Kidney donor she agreed to donate Heart, Lungs, and the Liver. She donated her one kidney to husband, but the graft was rejected, since he was on regular dialysis.
Lungs were allocated by National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) to 36 years’ Female patient to KIMs Kingsway Hospital, Secundrabad, Telangana. Team of Dr. Menander M, Dr. Tisekar Owais Rafique Ahmad, Shankarganesh K arrived at KIMS Kingway, but could not retrieve, as found medically unfit for transplant.
Heart- was allocated by region to 70 years Male waitlisted patient to Dr. L.H. Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, Mumbai. The Team who retrieve heart was Dr. Pravin Kulkarni, John Thomas, Transplant Coordinator Suarshan Bhoir, and Siju Kuttan.
Liver- KIMS Kingsway Hospital waitlisted 50 years Male.
The organs were allocated as per the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) wait list by President- Dr. Sanjay Kolte and Secretary- Dr. Rahul Saxena.
Brain Dead Committee members at KIMS -Kingsway Hospital who declared him brain dead included Neurophysian Dr. Ketan Chaturvedi, Dr Ashwinikumar Khandekar, Dr. Prakash Khetan ,Dr. Shivnarayan Acharya Intensivist, Dr. Rajan Barokar and Dr. Viendra Belekar. Dr. Palak Jaiswal.

Under the guidance of DCP Traffic police, Chetana Tidke , the Green corridor was created for Heart transport from KIMS Kingsway hospital to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International airport. The team API Prashant Annachatre, Head constable Saied and Ganesh lead the Ambulance.
Ambulance driver Nitesh G. Dhakate drove with the speed of 90- 100Km/hr and reached airport within 6 min & 13 Sec. via both Wardha road flyovers. Sadar , Bardi and Sonegon Traffic zone staff supported to create Green Corridor. Kingsway Hospital staff created the honour corridor and paid tributes to the donor and provided Free ambulance service.
