Street hawkers have returned to Sitabuldi main road, despite clear orders from the high court to control street vendors. More than 75% of the road is now occupied by vendors, causing slow-moving traffic. Over 200 vendors are selling on the busy street, leaving very little space for motorists.
In response to the dispute between the administration and the hawkers, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar had issued a directive, allowing only hawkers with a license from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to do business on Sitabuldi main road. However, they are permitted to operate only on one side of the road, specifically between Variety Square and Hanuman Galli.
According to the media reports, the commissioner mentioned that they will assess the situation over the weekend and make a new decision on the matter. He said that only authorized hawkers with NMC licenses will be allowed to occupy one side of the Sitabuldi main road.
