The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has arrested two accused who fraudulently drove away with the car after giving alcohol to the driver. The arrested accused has been identified as Kanakurthy Purnachandrarao Kesavaiah (37), resident of Dundigal, Cyberabad, and Pushpareddy Karthik Sarkeshwarrao (30), resident of Bolarum, Hyderabad.
Kotwali police had registered a case on the complaint of Rahul Rajesh Sharma (24), resident of Sundernagar Pardi. Rahul drives his car on Ola app. On January 19, he was waiting for a ride near the railway station. During this time both the accused stopped him. Asked the fare to go to Telangana. Rahul quoted the fare as Rs 12 per KM.
The accused boarded the car and said that they had to drink alcohol before leaving for Telangana. Rahul took them to Sangram Bar located near Jaganade Chowk. There the accused also invited him to sit with them and drink alcohol. Along with both the accused, Rahul also drank alcohol. While leaving the bar, due to excessive intoxication, one of the accused asked for the keys of the car and asked him to rest for some time. The accused left Rahul in the Lakadganj area and Ran away with his car and phone.
The next day Rahul complained about the matter to the police. The crime branch team was also engaged in the investigation. The police examined the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the premises and toll points. the police arrested both the accused from Hyderabad. They were handed over to the Kotwali police for further investigation.
