NTPC Western Region-I Headquarters, Mumbai, celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm, recognising and honouring the achievements of women in the organisation. The event commenced with the ceremonial welcome of the esteemed Navy Commander (Name not disclosed) by the Regional Executive Director (West-I), Shri KamleshSoni.
The Regional Head of HR (West-I), Ms VandanaChaturvedi, set the tone for the event by welcoming all esteemed guests and participants. In her address, she highlighted the challenges faced by women in the workplace and commended NTPC’s efforts in creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering work environment for women. She remarked, “Women have historically faced numerous challenges in professional spaces, but organisations like NTPC have consistently worked towards creating a safe, inclusive, and growth-oriented work environment for women. Our initiatives and policies ensure that every woman has the opportunity to excel without barriers.”
Following the welcome address, a talk session was conducted with the Navy Commander, moderated by Ms KanchanPriya, Senior Manager, C&M. The session delved into the Commander’s inspiring journey in the Navy, highlighting the evolving role of women in the defence sector. She shared insights into the resilience, leadership, and adaptability required to thrive in a traditionally male-dominated field, inspiring the audience with her experiences.
Shri Soni addressed the gathering and commended the contributions of women in NTPC. He particularly highlighted the NTPC Mouda Project, which stands as an exemplary station with the highest number of women employees. “The dedication and commitment of our women workforce have been instrumental in NTPC’s success. The increasing participation of women in NTPC exemplifies our commitment to gender diversity,” he said.
The celebration continued with the recognition of outstanding women professionals through various awards. A total of 29 entries were received from NTPC projects for these accolades, and the winners were as follows:
