A 21-year-old man was apprehended by Sadar police for allegedly threatening a builder and demanding an extortion of Rs 7 lakh at knifepoint in Sadar on Sunday, April 6.
The incident occurred around 5:30 pm at a construction site near Itara Apartment, where the complainant, Manmohan Mundhada, 48, was overseeing the construction of a seven-storey building.
According to police sources, the accused, identified as Lucky alias Gujjar Pavit Gaure, a resident of Navi Wasti, approached the site and confronted the builder. He allegedly brandished a knife and said, “You’re constructing a seven-storey building here. Give me seven lakh rupees or you’ll be in trouble.”
Fearing for his safety, the complainant lodged a complaint with Sadar police.
Acting swiftly, police registered a case under Sections 308(5) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and apprehended the accused. Further investigation is currently underway.
