Panic gripped the Hudkeshwar area on Saturday evening after the decomposed body of a 50-year-old woman was discovered in a pool of blood inside her residence. The deceased, Archana Anil Rahule, served as an assistant professor in the Physiotherapy Department at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur.
According to preliminary investigations, Archana was brutally murdered with a rod, sustaining severe head injuries. Hudkeshwar police have registered a case of murder and initiated a detailed investigation.
The incident came to light when her husband, Anil Rahule—also a professor at a medical college in Raipur—returned to Nagpur after one of his routine weekly visits. Upon entering their home at Plot No. 67, Ladekar Layout, he was alarmed by a foul smell and was shocked to find his wife’s decomposing body lying near the bed, surrounded by dried blood.
He immediately alerted neighbors, who in turn contacted the police.
Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar arrived at the scene along with his team, followed by senior officers including Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, DCP Zone 4 Rashmita Rav, ACP (Crime) Abhijeet Patil, and ACP Narendra Hivare. A panchnama was conducted, and the body was sent to GMCH for postmortem.
Police have registered a murder case under relevant sections and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
