Nagpur: A 28-year-old café owner was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Ambazari area of the city during the early hours of Tuesday, triggering panic among local residents and business owners.
The deceased, Avinash Raju Bhusari, owned the popular Sosha Café. The incident took place between 1.20 am and 1.30 am when Avinash was sitting with Aditya, manager of Nimbus Café, near his establishment and having an ice gola.
According to police sources, two miscreants arrived at the spot on separate two-wheelers and opened fire at Avinash from close range. As he collapsed in a pool of blood, the attackers fled the scene. Avinash was immediately rushed to Wockhardt Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Raju Bhusari, Ambazari police have registered a case of murder and initiated a probe. Senior police officials visited the crime scene, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to trace the attackers.
Police have assured that multiple teams have been deployed to nab the culprits and are investigating all possible angles behind the targeted killing.
