The Crime Branch Unit 5 of Nagpur Police has successfully cracked the murder case reported under Kapil Nagar Police Station limits, arresting eight accused, including a woman, in connection with the crime. The investigation revealed that the murder stemmed from a long-standing land dispute involving an 11-acre plot in Nari.
The victim, Ankush Ramaji Kadu (54), a resident of Guru Tegbahadur Nagar on Nari Road, was engaged in the business of property dealing under the name R.K. Builders and Developers. On April 19, 2025, around 5:45 PM, while Kadu was travelling on his two-wheeler near Mhada Chowk, Amrapali Apartment, Nari Road, unidentified assailants attacked him with a sharp weapon, inflicting serious injuries. He was rushed to Max Hospital in Mankapur, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following a complaint filed by his son, Prathamesh Ankush Kadu (25), Kapil Nagar Police registered a case under Sections 103(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act. The Crime Branch Unit 5 team launched a parallel investigation and, acting on technical analysis and reliable intelligence, uncovered a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the murder.
Investigations revealed that the victim was involved in a legal dispute with Sangeeta Gopichand Sahare over an 11-acre land parcel in Nari. Sangeeta Sahare, along with her son Akash Sahare and business partner Ashok alias Lala Mishra, allegedly conspired to eliminate Kadu. The trio, through their driver Ashwin Kholde, reportedly offered Rs 15 lakh in cash, a four-wheeler, and court-related expenses to contract killer Rahul Sunil Wagh (32), a resident of Vijay Nagar, Kalamna.
Rahul Wagh then enlisted the help of his accomplices — Rajesh alias Raja alias Raju Waman Bokade (30), Vilas Bhagwandas Nandanwar (39), Dhananjay alias Shivam alias Subham Kathekar (19), all residents of Vijay Nagar, Kalamna — and four juveniles to execute the murder plan. The police have now apprehended all eight accused: Rahul Wagh, Rajesh Bokade, Vilas Nandanwar, Dhananjay Kathekar, Sangeeta Sahare (50), Akash Sahare (34), Ashwin Kholde (25), and Ashok alias Lala Mishra (55), all residents of Maitri Colony, Nari Road, Nagpur.
According to the police, the group meticulously planned and executed the murder. All the arrested accused, including the juveniles in conflict with the law, have been handed over to Kapil Nagar Police for further investigation. The case remains under active probe.
The breakthrough was achieved under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. The investigation team comprised PI Sandeep Bua, PSI Rajesh Lohi, and officers from Crime Branch Unit 5.
