The decision of the Bombay High Court to acquit all 12 accused in the 2006 serial blasts in Mumbai that killed 208 people and injured many others has been challenged at the Supreme Court. The State Government has moved the Apex Court, and the hearing has been scheduled for July 24.
The Bombay High acquitted 12 accused in the case on July 21, reversing the Sessions Court verdict. One of the 12 died in Nagpur jail in 2021. The High Court said that the evidence is not adequate to inflict punishment on them.
The High Court verdict was a shock for many. Reacting to the HC decision Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had immediately announced that it will be challenged in the Supreme Court.
