Nagpur: Panic gripped Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on Tuesday, July 22, after airport authorities received a bomb threat via email, prompting swift action from security agencies and local police.
The threat mail, received in the afternoon, led to heightened alert across the airport premises. Following protocol, the airport security team, along with Nagpur Police, initiated an immediate investigation and search operation.
Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel, along with dog squads, were deployed to thoroughly inspect all areas of the airport, including terminals, baggage zones, and parking areas. Passengers and airport staff were kept under tight security during the operation.
Officials later confirmed that no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the search. As of the time of reporting, the threat appears to be a hoax, though authorities have not ruled out any possibility and further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the email.
Meanwhile, flight operations continued with minor delays, and additional security measures have been put in place as a precaution.
Senior officials from Nagpur Police and CISF are closely monitoring the situation. A case will be registered under relevant sections once the sender is identified.
