Nagpur is once again reeling under heat and humidity as the monsoon has gone on a break. With the rains halting, the city’s maximum temperature has crossed 34°C, while the minimum has remained above 25°C.
The absence of rainfall over the past few days has led to a steady rise in temperatures. Clear skies have intensified the sun’s effect, making daytime conditions harsh and leaving residents struggling with the heat. Even nights are offering little respite, as humidity and warm temperatures continue to persist, with readings above the normal range both during the day and at night.
According to the Meteorological Department, no significant weather system is currently active over the Bay of Bengal, resulting in the weakening of the monsoon. The chances of heavy rainfall in the coming days remain low, meaning relief from the heat and humidity is unlikely for now. However, the department has indicated that if moisture-laden winds become active, Nagpur may witness light showers again.
