The State Election Commission of Maharashtra has granted its final approval to the proposed Prabhag formation for the upcoming Nagpur Municipal Corporation General Elections 2025.
In an official communication addressed to the Urban Development Department, the Commission confirmed that the proposals prepared by the Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur, under earlier directives, have been reviewed and accepted. The approval comes after detailed scrutiny of population ratios, social representation, and administrative boundaries.
The Commission observed that the objections raised earlier regarding Prabhag No. 7 and 8 (South Nagpur area) under reference number 336 have now been resolved. The revised draft has been found to comply with all statutory norms and has therefore received the Commission’s consent.
Similarly, the proposal concerning Prabhag No. 28 (North Nagpur area) was examined by the designated officer and approved without further changes. The final ward structure for these areas has now been officially sanctioned.
Following this approval, the State Election Commission has directed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation to publish the final notification and implement the ward boundaries as per the sanctioned structure. This marks the completion of the delimitation process for the city.
With this step, the path is now clear for the preparation of voter lists and other pre-election procedures ahead of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections 2025.
