Following FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe’s crackdown on adulterated paneer across the state, social media posts backing his action are circulating widely in Nagpur amid discussion of rising paneer prices in some areas. The posts, shared by Mundhe’s supporters, carry messages such as “Nothing will happen if we don’t eat paneer,” “Don’t buy paneer that has become expensive,” and “Accept the price rise for adulteration-free food.”
The viral posts, featuring Mundhe’s photo, claim his action has exposed the real face of paneer production and cite a price increase of Rs 50–100 per kg, attributing it to the cost of producing paneer without adulterants. They argue that paneer sold at the earlier, lower prices is no longer possible without adulteration.
The posts urge citizens to stop buying paneer wherever prices have risen, and instead avoid vendors continuing to sell at old rates, favouring adulteration-free and pure food instead. “If we don’t eat paneer, we won’t die,” one post states. Similar advice is offered on milk, urging people to buy only from trusted farmers or producers, or directly from manufacturers, to avoid adulterated supply.
The posts have been widely shared by Mundhe’s supporters, with many reacting in the comments. Citizens have been urged not to blindly trust such posts and to independently verify claims about price hikes, their causes, and vendors’ authorised rates through the relevant authorities.
