Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has created box office history, emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in a single language. Released solely in Hindi, the Ranveer Singh-led film has collected an astounding Rs 1,240 crore worldwide, as per Jio Studios.
Even after a month in cinemas, the film shows no signs of slowing down. On January 7, Dhurandhar added Rs 5.70 crore to its domestic earnings, pushing its total India net collection to Rs 831.40 crore. The film has continued to dominate screens despite new releases like Ikkis and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
In another major feat, Dhurandhar has overtaken Pushpa 2: The Rule to become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that the film surpassed the lifetime Hindi business of the Allu Arjun-starrer in its fifth week. Describing it as a historic milestone for Hindi cinema, Taran Adarsh wrote on X,
“This is THE biggest moment in the HISTORY of #Hindi film business. Till not long ago, surpassing the lifetime business of #Pushpa2 #Hindi – the highestgrossing film in the #Hindi market – seemed unthinkable. But records are meant to be challenged… and shattered – and #Dhurandhar has done exactly that. #Dhurandhar has finally overtaken the lifetime business of #Pushpa2 #Hindi, emerging as the highest-grossing #Hindi film of all time on its fifth Tuesday [Day 33],”
Following this achievement, Yash Raj Films released an official statement congratulating the team for setting a new milestone in Indian cinema. “DHURANDHAR is not a film… it’s a milestone moment in Indian cinema that will be remembered forever.
