The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a substantial cash reward of Rs 131 crore for the Indian cricket squad following their stunning victory at the T20 World Cup. This amount is set to be shared among the 15 players, coaching staff, and additional support personnel.
This prize marks a Rs 6 crore increase from the previous award of Rs 125 crore given to Rohit Sharma’s team after their win in 2024. According to insiders, the bulk of this reward will likely go to the players while support staff compensation will depend on their positions within the hierarchy.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia expressed his congratulations in a statement, saying, “The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future.”
India claimed its third T20 World Cup title by defeating New Zealand by an impressive margin of 96 runs during the final held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this victory, India not only defended its title but also became the first team ever to win three ICC Men’s T20 World Cups.
This triumph further solidifies India’s reputation as one of the most successful teams in T20 history.
