A major accident was narrowly avoided on Friday afternoon after a huge tree suddenly collapsed near Ghate Restaurant on Ambazari Lake Road in Nagpur. CCTV footage of the incident, which has now gone viral on social media, shows the tree crashing across the busy road while vehicles and two-wheelers were passing through the area. Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries were reported in the incident.
However, local residents and commuters claimed that several complaints had earlier been made to the concerned authorities regarding the dangerous condition of the tree, but no preventive action was allegedly taken.
The fallen tree blocked traffic movement for some time and created panic among motorists in the area. Citizens have raised serious concerns over public safety negligence and delayed response by civic authorities, especially in high-traffic zones around Ambazari Lake Road.
Residents have demanded an immediate survey of old and weak trees across the city to prevent similar incidents during the ongoing summer and pre-monsoon season.
