A 31-year-old man was arrested for allegedly harassing a minor girl and making obscene gestures near Ajni Metro Station in Nagpur after a prompt intervention by a female traffic police officer.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station. According to information, the 16-year-old victim, a Class 11 student, had reached Ajni Metro Station on her way to attend classes. While she was sitting on the station staircase, the accused, identified as Viju alias Ajay Bokade, allegedly approached her and began making vulgar gestures.
When the teenager confronted him over his behaviour, the accused allegedly acted aggressively and molested her. Despite the traumatic situation, the girl remained alert and noticed a female traffic police officer deployed nearby.
She immediately approached the officer and informed her about the incident. On realising that the victim had alerted the police, Bokade allegedly tried to escape by boarding an auto-rickshaw.
