The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the results of the re-National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) by July 20, a senior official confirmed on Wednesday, assuring candidates that the MBBS academic session will begin on time.
Although the official did not specify the exact date of the result, the agency said it is working on a war footing to complete the evaluation process and release the results at the earliest.
The re-NEET UG examination was conducted on June 21 after the Centre scrapped the original exam held on May 3 following allegations of a nationwide paper leak. Over 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-examination at more than 5,400 centres across the country and 14 centres overseas.
Officials said the NTA is currently examining around 10,000 objections received against the provisional answer key before publishing the final answer key and preparing the results. Each objection is being reviewed individually along with the supporting evidence to ensure a fair evaluation process.
According to the official, the agency is working to declare the results much sooner than the usual timeline. While NEET-UG results are generally announced within 45 days of the examination, the NTA expects to complete the process earlier despite the re-examination.
Following the declaration of results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to announce the counselling schedule for 15 per cent All India Quota seats, AIIMS, JIPMER and other central and deemed universities. State authorities will also begin counselling for seats under their respective quotas.
The NTA reiterated that the revised examination schedule will not affect the commencement of the 2026-27 MBBS academic session, assuring aspirants that the admission process will proceed without delay.
