The Enforcement Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has been carrying out daily anti-encroachment drives across the city, targeting illegal stalls and structures occupying public spaces and footpaths.
On Thursday, joint enforcement teams removed illegal stalls and cleared footpaths along Sitabuldi Main Road, Variety Chowk and the Mahal-Badkas Chowk stretch.
In the Mayo Hospital, Mominpura and Tajbagh areas, Team 2 and the Nehru Nagar squad demolished three to four unauthorised tin sheds and seized three truckloads of materials, including 14 handcarts, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Sanjay Kamble.
The operation intensified on Friday, with teams dismantling 10 to 12 illegal sheds and platforms along Sitabuldi Main Road and near the NMC Smart Parking zone despite opposition from traders. Near Temple Bazar and Mahajan Market, officials seized footwear stands and one truckload of goods, including four handcarts and four display stands.
Simultaneously, enforcement teams continued clearance operations in the Mahal and Badkas Chowk areas, restoring public footpaths for pedestrians.
The anti-encroachment drives were conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Mangesh Khawale and Assistant Commissioner Sanjay Kamble.
