SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tourney Begins

The Times of India (TOI) shocked defending champions The Hitavada by ten wickets in 21st OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organized by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with OCW and State Bank of India at Ambedkar College ground here on Thursday.

Batting first, The Hitavada were all out for 104 in 15 overs. Only opening pair Kamlesh Waghire (49, 36b, 7×4, 1×6) and Anupam Timothy (22, 17b, 3×4, 1×6) showed resistance.

For TOI, Faizul Qumar claimed four wickets giving 11 runs while Vinay Pandey captured 3 for 15.

In reply, TOI achieved the target without losing any wicket. Thanks to wicketkeeper-batsman Pratik Siddharth, who slammed 34-ball 53 hitting one six and seven boundaries. Subodh Ratnaparkhi (37, 36b, 1×6, 4×4) ably supported him.

Earlier, OCW CEO Sanjoy Roy inaugurated the tournament in the presence of AGMs of State Bank of India Fanish Gupta and Mohan Changde, former Vidarbha Ranji captain Preetam Gandhe, leader of rulling party in NMC Sandeep Joshi, NMC Standing Committee chairman Vicky Kukreja and noted sports organsier Anil Ahirkar.President of Mumbai Press Club Dharmendra Jore gave away the man-of-the-match trophy to Pratik Siddharth of TOI. SJAN president Kishor Bagde made introductory remarks. Dr. Ram Thakur conducted the proceedings and proposed a vote of thanks.
