Bhaskar beat Loksatta by 5 wickets

Dainik Bhaskar defeated Loksatta by five wickets to start their campaign on winning note at the 21st OCW-SJAN Inter Press Cricket Tournament organised by SJAN in association with OCW and SBI at Vasant Nagar ground on Saturday.

Batting first, Loksatta scored 116 for 5 in 20 overs. Mahesh Bokade was the top scorer with 48 hitting eight boundaries and two sixes. Captain Avishkar Deshmukh contributed 26 while Mangesh Raut scored 17.

For Bhaskar, Prabhu Shankar claimed three wickets for 19 runs.

In reply, Bhaskar achieved the target sparing 5 wickets in 16.5 overs. Mangesh Thakre scored match winning 40, while captain Rahul Thakur remained unbeaten on 32. Significant contribution also came from Shrikant Bhalerao (24).

Bankers Sports Council president Ramesh Thakur gave away man of the match award to Rahul Thakur.

Brief scores

Loksatta: 116 for 7 in 20 overs (Mangesh Bokade 48, Avishkar Deshmukh 26, Prabhu Shankar 3 for 19) lost to Dainik Bhaskar: 119 for 5 in 16.5 overs (Mangesh Thakre 40, Rahul Thakur 32 not out, Shrikant Bhalerao 24, Avishkar Deshmukh 2 for 14) by five wickets.
