Respite to cable consumers till Feb 6

The cable viewers in the city, particularly those wishing to watch the paid channels, have got a temporary respite wherein they would be able to watch pay channels for a few days more.

Knowledgeable sources in the cable TV business in the city told TLN that a delegation of Multi Service Operators (MSO) along with representatives of different dish TV operators met TRAI officials in New Delhi on Thursday and sought some more time to comply with its recent guidelines.

The TRAI officials reportedly told the delegation that it had not problem to continue with the telecast of pay channels for few more days but asked all the cable operators to start implementation of the new guidelines by February 7. This provided a little respite to the MSOs and dish TV operators, who reportedly agreed to TRAI’s directives.

Accordingly, all the MSOs and the dish TV operators will now have to complete the required formalities by the evening of February 6, which include compiling requirements of each consumers, filling the same in the software and uploading it. The free telecast of pay channels will be stopped from February 7, sources informed TLN.

Sanjay Samarth, Proprietor, United Cables, Bajaj Nagar confirmed the development saying that now all the cable operators attached to MSOs along with the dish operators will now start the work of customer data compilation on war footing and finish it in the prescribed time.
