For as long as the open space at the Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar has been in existence the main issue has been that the space has never been taken care of. It has been littered with waste and plastic, come rains and the whole place turns into one big swamp. Therefore, there has been no safe and playable space for the students and community members to enjoy the PE sessions or to play football in the evening.
This is an irony of sorts for something that adds so much value has never been looked after.
Everything about this story is about to change…
On February 7, Slum Soccer inaugurated a new football ground in Kamptee at the hands of Founder Professor Vijay Barse, and other community members. Shahjahan Safaat (President of Nagpur), Mohammad Akram (Education Department Chairman), S. B. Tebode (Additional Officer), Sandhya. U. Raibole (Corporator), Ujwal Raibole (Journalist), Mr. Lonare (Corporator), Munawwar Husain (School Chairman), Issrar Ahmed (Professor of S.K.P College), Naushad Siddique (NCP Leader), Shabnam Bano (Principal of Khatija Bai School), Mohammad Javed ( P.E. Khatija Bai School), Naqeeb Akhtar (Principal of Sattar Farooqui School), (X Rabbani Football player), Shahab Akhtar (P.T. Teacher), Ahtaz Ahmed (Corporator), Kashinath Pradhan (Corporator), Waqar Ahmed (Teacher), Sakhawat Ali (Principal) along with other community members, the entire Slum Soccer Staff was prominently present at the event
By inaugurating a new football ground at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar School, Slum Soccer aims to give children more opportunities to play football and motivate them to pursue a career in sports. This ground will provide them a safe space to indulge themselves in sport activities and will offer them an opportunity to participate in sports actively.
