First of its kind venture in India

A first of its kind Safety Park across any other metro rail projects in the country, Little Wood, off Hingna Road is much more than a green zone in the city.

Having followed safety norms meticulously all the time during execution of its project, Maha Metro Nagpur has now come up with Safety Park. The park has come up as training institute in safety aspects, where it trains employees and professionals from other sectors, and also coach school, college students and the common citizens.

The Safety Park also depicts safety systems followed by Maha-Metro for all its construction and allied works. The basic aims aim is to make employees and citizens aware of policies formulated in accordance with the best international standards. These policies are regularly updated for betterment based on new findings and observations.

The best practices adopted by Maha-Metro, which are crafted, based on the global safety standards are explained to the employees and citizens alike. This apart, awareness is spread regarding equipment and special machineries used in the project. The safety measures adhered to while using them are also highlighted in the park.

The Safety Park consists of 3 aesthetically designed hexagonal structures of around 600 square area feet each. These structures are blend of modern architectural designs with conventional material like bamboo. The unique design reflects fusion of various geometrical designs, indicating at the use of engineering principals for the project.

The three hexagonal structures serve different purposes. The first structure or Hexa-1 serves as a training hall for staff, workmen and to the public visitors, especially from schools and colleges. This is designed to accommodate around 30 people for training, at a time. New, used or damaged hand tools used in the project and their safety is on display there.

This hall is also equipped with display screen, projector and audio system. Posters of best practices followed at the project are kept there. Mannequin displaying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is stationed there. PPE is a clothing or equipment designed to protect workers from physical hazards when on a worksite.

The second hexagonal structure or Hexa-2 has these features on display: Excavation prototype models using safety control measures during excavation, prototype of pile rig machine, pile winch machine, excavator, tower crane and safety control measures. Apart from this, the LED screen shows audio visuals of safety precautions and measures being taken.

Safety control measures and practices adopted during segment launching have been showcased by prototypes of launching girders and ground support structures including display of traffic safety precautions in Hexa-3. Prototype of tyre mounted crane, trailer and traffic cones, water barriers, caution tapes, baton lights and traffic flags have been put here. The park serves as model training institute in safety aspects and would benefit various segments working in this area. It also boosts the safety culture here.
