Nujster’s Slum Soccer B win Season 2 of NSL football tournament after a dramatic day of football where league leaders Divyansh Steel Slum Soccer lost to last year’s finalists Hardeo’s Phoenix FC.

Match 1: Divyansh Steel’s Slum Soccer vs Hardeo’s Phoenix FC

As things stood before the games today, we had Divyansh Steel’s Slum Soccer with 19 points and Nujster’s Slum Soccer B with 17 points going for the league title. The first game was played between Hardeo’s Phoenix FC and Divyansh Steel Slum Soccer. Phoenix FC took the early lead (in the first half) with a fine display of football and put DSSS in tremendous pressure for the rest of the game. The goal was scored by Gaurav Sarpe and assisted by Varun Kinkhede. The rest of the match was evenly contested but DSSS could not find an equalizer and this result gave Nujster’s Slum Soccer B a chance at the title.

Final Score 0 – 1

Divyansh Steel’s Slum Soccer 0 – 1 Hardeo’s Phoenix FC

Man of the Match – Gaurav Sarpe (Hardeo’s Phoenix FC)

Match 2: Nujster’s Slum Soccer B vs Bijlee Spartans

The second match was between Nujster’s Slum Soccer B and Bijlee Spartans. Everyone had come on the ground to watch this match since this was going to be the title decider.  Nujster’s Slum Soccer B thumped Bijlee Spartans by 4 goals, got the three points and emphatically won the NSL trophy. The team looked hungry for the title, dominated the entire match and had good chances throughout the game. Iqbal scored two goals while Shadab and Bunty scored one each.

Final Score 4-0

Nujster’s Slum Soccer B 4 – 0 Bijlee Spartans

Man of the Match – Iqbal (Nujster’s Slum Soccer B)

Match 3: Lighthouse Rangers vs Pablo’s Greenhouse FC

Lighthouse Rangers saw a lot of ball and tried to put it past Pablos Greenhouse FC’s goal line. But it wasn’t going to happen as Greenhouse FC defended very well. Amidst all the appeals and attempts, Rangers were awarded a penalty; and Ajay Chhabrani, their captain, missed it (representing the nervousness that the game had in it). But it wasn’t long till Lighthouse Rangers team found its flow back and scored the only goal of the game, scored by Rohit and assisted by Harsh.

Final Score 1-0

Lighthouse Rangers FC 1 – 1 Pablo’s Greenhouse FC

Man of the Match – Rohit (Lighthouse Rangers FC)

Match 4: Amitasha United vs Rohit’s Titans

The next match was played between Amitasha United and Rohit’s Titans and although both the teams were out of the top 4, they still wanted to win it for the love of the game and for self-pride. Both the teams had their fair share of possession and attack throughout the game. There were moments when Titans looked like scoring and Amitasha was left chasing the ball; and there were moments when Amitasha threatened Titan’s defense. In the end, it was a goalless draw.  Both the teams had 12 points each, but Amitasha secured the 6th spot, putting the Titans 7th, by goal difference.

Final Score 0-0

Man of the Match – Dhruv (Rohit’s Titans)

Match 5: Galaxy FC vs Royal Strikers (friendly)

The final game of the day was an exhibition match, as Galaxy had got a walkover (as a result of Dynamos getting disqualified from the league). However, both the teams played the game with vigour and a strong intent to win. After a lot of passing and attempts and tracking back by both of the teams, it was Galaxy FC who emerged victorious with a 2-0 result. Shreenath and Sagar scored the goals. Galaxy FC finished the league at 5th position.

 Final Score 2-0

And so the second season of NSL ended with loads of amazing memories, incredible experiences, good quality football and thrilling matches being played.
