Why Godse killed Gandhi? People should stop questioning and start discussing’

People who have been cheated and told history in a manipulative manner, when face the truth and reality that was kept hidden from them for last 70 years, leads towards situation like civil war. At such stage people can do anything, no matter up to what level it is. May be, Nathuram Godse also faced the same thing. Who knows the actual reason behind why he assassinated Mahatma Gandhi in 1948.  Pushpendra Kulshrestha, senior journalist and political commentator raised these blazing issues which are currently making headlines certainly due to election season.  Speaking on the topic, ‘Country’s  internal security and challenges’, a programme organised by Manthan at Chitnavis hall on Sunday, Kulshrestha brought out several such issues relating to Kashmir, Hindus and section 35 (A).

“Currently, much controversy was created when Sadhvi Pragya called Godse ‘Deshbhakt’. Without knowing the statement, people started commenting on it. What was wrong in calling him a deshbhakt?” questioned Kulshrestha. He did not kill Gandhi, because he was Hindu. There must be a strong reason behind it. But there is never a debate over why Godse killed Gandhi. We become apologetic every time when it comes to Godse, said Kulshrestha.

“The time when country was celebrating independence in 1947, nobody knows what exactly was happening at Bengal and Punjab. As many as 21 lakh people died mostly at Punjab and Bengal during partition. But this never came in headlines. Despite Gandhi knows that he was a mass communicator and people would listen to him in any case, why he never sat on dharna to avoid partition?”said Kulshrestha.  He said that country has been injected over and again with the false information, which will take a long time to vanish from people’s mind.
Situation has reached to a point where talking about Hinduism is considered as anti-national.
Along with this, Kulshrestha said that in 1954 the president of India ordered to attach the article 35 (A) to the Indian constitution. “The day it is removed from Kashmir, we would be able to say that it is a part of India”, he added.

Noted here that article 35A allows the Jammu and Kashmir legislature to define permanent residents of the state. It was inserted through the Constitution Order, 1954, which was issued by President Rajendra Prasad under Article 370, on the the advice of the Nehru-led Union Government.

Killing could not be supported, but hinduism was not behind Gandhi’s murder Godse name is coined as a first hindu terrorist. But he did not kill Gandhi because of hinduism. Religion should not be used as a playcard. Of course, killing cannot be supported in any way. It is wrong. But the reason behind Gandhi’s assassination should be discussed.
