Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has made attendance mandatory for all teaching and non-teaching staff, including contractual employees, at a civic felicitation programme for ten Padma Shri awardees to be held on Sunday.
To ensure attendance despite the event falling on a holiday, the university administration has introduced a two-step biometric attendance system. According to an order issued by Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, all professors, officers and non-teaching staff must first report to their respective workplaces at 10 am on Sunday and mark their attendance through the biometric system.
They are then required to attend the civic felicitation ceremony, scheduled for 4 pm at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines. The university has also made a second biometric attendance compulsory at the venue after the programme concludes. This arrangement is aimed at verifying the actual presence of employees at the event and identifying those who fail to attend.
The directive has been issued to all heads of university teaching departments, principals of affiliated colleges, university officers and section heads. It applies to all categories of teaching and non-teaching staff, including regular employees, contractual staff, those on consolidated pay and daily-wage workers.
Chief Minister to Attend
The civic felicitation ceremony has been organised to honour ten eminent personalities who have been conferred the Padma Shri for their contributions in various fields. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former Chief Justice of India Bhushan Gavai are expected to attend the programme as distinguished guests. The event will be presided over by RTMNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar.
