Prerak Darvekar and Shlok Chandrani recorded surprising victories over their opponents on the second day of Raisoni Memorial FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management College Hall here on Monday.
In the fourth round , Prerak surprised tenth seed Vaibhav Raut and took his points tally to four and sharing the lead with thirteen others. Earlier in the third round, unseeded Shlok Chandranis hocked eighth seed and FIDE Master M Vinoth Kumar. Top seed and International Master (IM) VAV Rajesh outwitted N Krishna Karthik to take his points tally to four. On the second board, IM Anwesh Upadhyaya defeated Khush Wairagade quite easily. Local players Sauravh Khherdekar and IM Anup Deshmukh also registered fourth successive wins to join the leaders. Two rounds will be held on Tuesday.
