Upadhyaya, Rajesh Dodeja emerge joint leaders

Three players including IM Anwesh Upadhyaya, VMV Rajesh and city’s Pavan Dodeja emerged joint leaders with six points each at the end of sixth round of GH Raisoni Memorial FIDE Rating Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Kalpana Prakash Trust at Dr Ambedkar Management Institute, Deekshabhoomi.

Upadhyaya continued his winning streak in rapid format also. On top board he defeated Railway’s FM Akash Thakur to emerge the joint leader. On second board Tamil Nadu’s IM Rajesh VAV outclassed budding Suhan Deshpande whereas on the third board Navalgund Niranjan and city’s Srishti Pandey settled to a draw.

Pawan Dodeja jumped to top position recording victory over city’s mate Sankalp Gupta. WCM Mrudul Dehankar faced shocking defeat at the hands of Bhagyashree Patil. Veteran Ishwar Ramteke lost to Devvrat Tiwari.

Results (round 6): IM Anwesh Upadhyaya (6) bt FM Thakur Akash (5), Deshpande Suhan (5) lost to IM Rajesh VAV (6), Navalgund Niranjan (5.5) drew with Pandey Srishti (5.5), Dodeja Pawan (6) bt Sankalp Gupta (4.5), WCM Mrudul Dehankar (4.5) lost to Bhagyashree Patil (5.5), Ishwar Ramteke (4.5) lost to Devvrat Tiwari (5.5), Ramteke Sumedh (4) lost to Shreyas S Nikam (5), Dhanvij Ansh (5) bt Buxy Rajanikant (4), Taide Siddhant (4) lost to Mahindrakar Indrajeet (5), Suraj Jaiswal (5) bt Mahale Pankaj (5),  Eesha Ajay Sarda (5) bt Kankam Kumar (4), Sawalakhe Jay (4) lost to Vaibhav Jayant Raut (5).
