Apollo launches its Satellite Diagnostic Lab in Nagpur

Today, Apollo Diagnostics, India’s emerging diagnostic chain from Apollo Health and Lifestyle Limited, launched a new Satellite Lab in Nagpur. Having commenced operations in 2015, this unit is the 80+ diagnostic lab in the group’s network. Spread over 1000 sq ft, the new satellite lab in Nagpur will offer over 3500 pathology tests that are administered using the latest advances in diagnostic pathology. (In addition, 10+ collection centres are scheduled to open across Nagpur district, ensuring easier access for patients to offer best diagnostic service.)

 

The new satellite lab was inaugurated by Hon. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways and MSME, Govt. of India. Shri Ramesh Chopde, Ex. Member, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Ex. Corporator NMC, Nagpur and Dr Kush Jhunjhunwala MBBS, MD (Paed), DNB, President, Indian Medical Association, Nagpur Branch and the key practicing doctors & staff of Apollo.

The Apollo Diagnostics Group has reportedly been delivering over 3.5 million high-quality diagnostic tests every year. The growing and widespread network of diagnostic centres is a testament to their core principle of bringing quality, affordable healthcare closer to the consumer.

 

In 2015, there were 100+ Apollo Diagnostics centres; in 2016 this number grew to 150+ centres and to over 250 collection centres and 1 National Reference Lab, 4 Regional Reference Labs, 30+ Satellite Labs, 20+ HLMs in 2017. Currently, there are 550+ diagnostic centres & 1 National Reference Lab, 4 Regional Reference, 40+ Satellite Labs, 30+ HLMs, 5+ RLMs in 2018 and aiming to reach 700+ patient care centres, 1 National Reference Lab, 4 Regional Reference, 48+ Satellite Labs, 45 HLMs and 10+ RLMs by 2019.

Hon. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways and MSME, Govt. of India said, “It is commendable that trusted and established names like Apollo is focusing on building a network of diagnostic labs across India, benefitting patients in metros & districts. Often, people living in smaller towns fail to receive the same healthcare standards as their urban counterparts and this is a step towards correcting that gap.” Very happy to know that to understand the prevalence of Diabetes in Nagpur Apollo Diagnostics is offering free glucose fasting to all the citizens of Nagpur for the month of July and August 2019. Every citizen of Nagpur should utilize this to understand their diabetes status.”

Highlights:

  • For Hormones Chemiluminescence (used as a diagnostic tool): High accuracy & specificity.
  • Technology advancements, such as a ‘Dry Chemistry analyser’ to be used in Bio chemistry. This is beneficial for testing Sugar and Lipids, as it reduces water consumption and makes the results more accurate when samples are transported in the heat or over long periods of time.
  • Use of a high-end machine (Horiba 5 part analyser) for complete blood count that will help doctors identify the exact cause of infection, differentiating between even bacterial infection and worm infestation.
