The water cut in City will remain continue on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday even when from last a few days, monsoon is active in city and its neighbouring areas. As per the authorities, the water level in lakes has not increased relatively. Hence the water cut will go on in the areas where supply depends on Pench. However, the water  will be supplied in the areas like Nehrunagar, Satranjipura, Lakadganj and Aasinagar zones from Kanhan river.

On Monday, water supply committee chairman Pintu Jhalke held a meeting with water supply department executive engineer Shweta Banerjee, Manoj Ganveer  and OCW officials. The meeting discussed the water level of the lakes. It was found that the water level has not improved significantly so that water cut will remain exist. It should be noted  that NMC has already decided to continue the water cut till August 22.  But there is an alternative of review meeting every week.

As per information available, the water level of Navegaon-Khairi was 318.60 metre on July 29 while on July 15, it was 318.36 metre. hence, there is a rise of 0.24 metre which will not solve the problem. Last year, it was more than 322 metre. The Navegaon-Khairi supplies 500 mld of water to the purification plant daily.

Water supply committee chairman Jhalke said for the last a few days, city had witnessed good rainfall but there was scarcity of rain in the catchment areas of the lake so water level had not increased significantly.

There was no improvement in Totladoh and Navegaon-Khairi. So it was decided to continue the water cut, he said.

During the water cut days, water will not be supplied through tankers. It is advised, that people should stock the water a day before. The during the water cut, tanks remain empty so tankers could not be operated.
