Atharva Wins Umathe Memorial Rapid Chess Title

Atharva Bhajne won Dr Prakash Umathe Memorial One Day Open Rapid Chess Tournament that was organised by Dr. M. K Umathe College on Monday.

Bhajne triumphed with 7.5 points in the eight round tournament. He was followed by Saurabh Lokhande for second place. Aditya Bodkhe and Parth Lonkar secured third and fourth place respectively.

In the last round on top board, Bhajne defeated Sumedh Ramteke whereas Lokhande outwitted Parth Lonkar. Aditya Bodkhe defeated Vyankatesh Dande. Earlier the tournament was inaugrated at the hands of Prof. Ravindra Sontakke. Seceretary of Sati Mata Shikskan Santsha Kishor Umathe , president Manda Umathe, principal Dr DV Naik and others were present on the occasion. FA Deepak Chavan was the chief arbiter of the tournament and he was assisted by FA.Umesh Panbude and Swati Kumbhalkar. International yoga player Dhanashri Lekurwale graced the prize distribution function.

Final ranking: 1. Bhajne Atharva (7.5, 40.5), 2. Saurabh Lokhande (7, 39.5), 3. Bodkhe Aditya (7, 33.5), 4. Lonkar Parth (6.5, 38.5), 5. Mayur S Shelke (6.5, 37.5), 6. Pujjam Bansod (6, 42), 7. Chetan Deodhagle (6, 39), 8. Ramteke Sumedh (6, 36), 9. Dande Vyankatesh (6, 36), 10. Dhoke Arnav (6, 35.5).
