Maharashtra girls finish runners-up, boys third

Maharashtra girls finished runners-up whereas boys achieved third place in the Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship at Cuttack on Monday.

In final Maharashtra lost to Tamil Nadu 55-87. Samiksha Chandak and Anaya Bhavsaar scored 13 points each whereas Pragati Nalavade (10) and Gunjan Mantri (7) were other scorers. For Tamil Nadu D Evangeline single-handedly scored 30 baskets. In the boy’s section, Maharashtra overcame Haryana75-74 in extra time. Taufiq Sheikh top scored with 26 points for the winners.

Results
Girls: Maharashtra (Samiksha Chandak 13, Anaya Bhavsaar 13, Pragati Nalavade 10, Gunjan Mantri 7) lost to Tamil Nadu (D. Evangeline 30) 55-87 (18-18, 12-14, 13-33, 13-22)
Boys: Maharashtra (Taufiq Shekh 26, Rajveer Shah 8) beat Haryana (Kaushal 26) 75-74 (10-21, 28-11, 28-15, 9-19, extra time 8-6)
