Nitin Gadkari Performs Bhoomipujan of City's First E-Library at Bajaria

“The installation of e-library in the city would mould wise students like Ataljee in future”, said Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Bhoomipoojan of the e-library at Bajaria on Friday.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation is setting an e-library in memory of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Lal School premises in Gitanjali Chowk on Central Avenue Road in the city. This e-library created by Manado is based on the concept of British ‘e-Library’ and a fund of Rs 5 crore has been proposed for the project.Bhoomipujan of City's First E-Library at Bajaria

Mayor Nanda Jichkar, MLA Vikas Kumbhare, deputy mayor Deepraj Pardikar, standing committee chairman Pradeep Pohane, corporator Dayashankar Tiwari, additional commissioner Aziz Shaikh and others were also present at the Bhoomipujan programme.

Gadkari further said that this e-library would launch novel programmes in future. Nagpur’s development should not be limited to roads and gardens but overall development is necessary and this should include educational, cultural, social, sports and all sectors. With the facility of e-library city can produce excellent engineers, scientists and doctors in future, he said.

Speaking about the e-library, corporator Dayashankar Tiwari said that the e-library is housed in a green building and is joined to IIT Kharagpur which would give full cooperation to students seeking knowledge. The e-library would also include a PC in Braille.

The e-library created by NMC is estimated to cost Rs. 5 crore. The library will be a three-storeyed building with a parking lot at the ground floor. The first floor will be a spacious air-conditioned hall. There will be a locker room for students to keep their belongings as well. There will also be a library management office on the same floor.

On the second floor, there will be two computer sets and two hours internet facility for the convenience of 4 students. Three separate cabins of four student capacity will be arranged for students’ group discussion. In addition, a separate room will be created for the PowerPoint presentation. A separate toilet for male and female students, a pantry for refreshments and a locker room for the preservation of costly items are also proposed in the modern ‘e-library’.

The third floor will feature a solar panel. The energy needed for the entire building will be generated through this solar energy. The entire project was designed by renowned architect Prashant Satpute.

The project will be prepared under the supervision of Deputy Engineer Ravi Bundade, Junior Engineer Surendra Dudhe, Architectural Assistant Sunil Dumane under the leadership of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Chief Engineer Ulhas Debdwar, Manoj Talwar.
