LAD College emerge U-19 divisional badminton champions

Bhavans Trimurti Nagar, Modern School Triumph

LAD and SRP College for Women reigned supreme in the Inter-School Under-19 Divisional Badminton tournament, organized by the District Sports Office, at the Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur here on Wednesday.

In a one-sided final, LAD and SRP College defeated Bajaj Mahavigyan University, Wardha 2-0 to qualify for the State tournament which will be held at Akola next week.

Devika Kawale provided the perfect start to LAD College by winning her first singles without any difficulty. Devika thrashed Ayushi Gosavi 21-1, 21-1.

The pair of Chaitali Nayse and Bhargavi Rambhad then sealed the fate of their rivals by winning the doubles 21-2, 21-1 against Shreya and Maithili.

Earlier in the semifinals, Nagpur DSO champions LAD College trounced Gadchiroli 2-0 to enter the final.

Besides Devika, Chaitali and Bhargavi, the other members of the LAD College team were Kaveri Kashikar and Aishwarya Pimplapure. Anuradha Nathile was the manager of the team.

In the U-14 category, Bhavans BP Vidya Mandir, Trimurti Nagar emerged champions. Aditi Dhamankar, Prisha Bhati, Siya Mundle and Pari Aote were the members of the champion side.

The U-17 title was bagged by Modern School, Koradi by beating St Vincent Pallotti School 2-0.

U-19: LAD College bt Bajaj Mahavigyan University, Wardha 2-0 (Devika Kawale bt Ayushi Gosavi 21-1, 21-1; Chaitali Nayse-Bhargavi Rambhad bt Shreya-Maithili 21-2, 21-1).

U-17: Modern School, Koradi bt St Vincent Pallotti School 2-0 (Nikkita Joseph bt Kripi Sajwan 21-8, 21-13; Nikkita Joseph-Krutadnya Deogade bt Kripi Sajwan-Athena S 21-18, 21-13).

U-14: Bhavans Trimurti Nagar bt Modern School, Koradi 2-0 (Aditi Dhamankar bt Samiya Bodhankar 21-12, 21-6; Aditi Dhamankar-Siya Mundle bt Samiya Bodhankar-Sukriti Patrikar 21-18, 21-15).
