Vidarbha beat Delhi by five wickets in Hazare Trophy

Vidarbha defeated Delhi by five wickets in Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day match at GSFC Cricket ground in  Vadodara on Friday.

Vidarbha won the toss and elected to field first. They restricted Delhi to 207 for 8 in 50 overs. After the failure of top-order batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Hiten Dalal (two runs each), Nitish Rana played an unbeaten knock of 100 runs hitting three boundaries and eight sixes. He was ably supported by Anuj Rawat (54). Lalit Yadav contributed 22.

For Vidarbha, Yash Thakur, Aditya Sarwate and Sanjay Ramaswamy shared six wickets between them. In reply, Vidarbha achieved the target losing five wickets in 48.1 overs. Thanks to opening left-handed batsman Faiz Fazal who played a match-winning knock of  92 runs in 126 balls hitting six boundaries and two sixes.

Skipper Wasim Jaffer (42, 47b, 6×4), Akshay Wadkar (34, 58b, 1×4) too batted well. The significant contribution also came from Akshay Karnewar (18) and Rushabh Rathod (12) who remained unbeaten and ensured the victory. For Delhi, Nitish Rana claimed three wickets for 36 runs. Now Vidarbha has ten points in six matches.
